Kayaking Tybee Island 2017 – GKF Camp N Paddle

This adventure was hosted by Georgia Kayak Fishing, aka GKF and Tybee Fishing Co, aka Team Tybee. We launched at Alley 3 on Tybee Island. Paddled across Tybee Creek to Little Tybee Island. On the Georgia Coast, we are targeting sea trout, redfish and flounder. The weather was amazing; 50s low and 70s high. 20ish mph winds. The sun wasn’t too hot and the bugs were not a problem. Both can be problematic in the warmer months. We had over 25 come out for this awesome kayak fishing event! Check out http://wwwgeorgiakayakfishing.com for future GKF events. Join the adventure!

On this trip, I paddled the Vibe Kayaks Yellowfin 100. This was a bit of a stretch for an overnight trip on a remote island. The weight limit of the Yellowfin 100 is 375lbs, and I’m 230lbs. So there wasn’t a whole lot of margin for camping equipment. Hammock camping allowed me to scale down the pack weight and make it work.
